Default GS02 Bom kit question.

So I started building the kit last night.

When I was putting the diff covers on, if I tightened them down all the way, the differentials would bind. I assume they were pressing on the retainers and causing it to bind up.

I had to file the hell out of the diff covers to alleviate that, and still cannot torque them down hard.

Am I missing something?

You don't need to torque them down hard, they only need to tight enough that the cover sits flush. Just hold the cover on by hand and tighten the screws down to be snug. There's no working load on those fasteners, they're just for retention of the diff cover.

Just make sure the retainers are properly tightened (not overtightened) and it should be fine.

I've built 3 pairs of GA44 axles and I've never had that issue so I'm assuming it's related trying to over tighten the diff cover screws.

I had to take it to flush and back off a half turn to completely eliminate binding.

If I tightened the bearing retainers a quarter turn too tight it would bind, which is kind of weird actually.
