| another sawback thread...
i finally got mine!!!!! it was the fastest build i have done in a while. the instructions were good, and the packaging was neatly organized. nice. drivetrain has a hobbywing 35a and a 16t tacon, like the rest of my trucks... this combo works very well in a trail truck, waterproof, good speed and no cog down low. turkey hunter dan is at the controls in it... so what do you think? |

I like the yellow you painted it , the wheels really set it off, or the other way around. Nice, welcome to the club. |

Those sliders look great! I wish I had skills at fabricating with metal, but I'm better off leaving that kind of thing to others. I wish that all of the guys on this forum could bring our Sawbacks together and see each other's work in person. It would be a cool day with all of us on the rocks at the same time! |

thanks... grab a mapp gas torch from home depot and a pack of brazing rods. then start burning metal til it sticks together, once you get the hang of that, make the joints pretty. if that doesnt work, there are tons of videos out there on youtube to watch and learn from. it took all of 2 hours total to make my rollbar and sliders. 10 min of actual work, and a bunch of video game time in between waiting for layers of paint to dry. i just finished my back bumper, but if i fire up the drill press to make the mount holes, my sleeping wife will drill a hole in my head. ill hang it and post a pic in the am |

its killing me that i havent run this in the woods yet... i have a control test area on my property made up of logs and rock and the truck flew through it (i was very impressed for a truck with no tuning) but i ran it with no body (so i could watch how she twisted, get an idea of what changes to make and need none for now) then when i ran with a body i got an idea of where i needed protection. a few simple parts will keep my lower panels in good shape. a few of us are going out on new years day and i cant wait to spring this on the guys...

That looks good. Am I seeing correctly, does it mount to the outside of the frame rails?

by the way... like the "battery tray" reinforced styrene with rubber straps instead of the goofy zip ties. took a note from tamiya bruiser for inspiration on that one
