High clearance skid made easy!

Just took an ax10 scorpion skid and drilled and countersunk new holes using the old skid as a template. Used small spacers to take up the slack as the axial skid is a little narrower

Good find, thanks for posting that up. I wonder if the Axial scx skid is any wider?

Scx and ax are the same width skids(im running an ax10 skid on my scx10). I have both and went with the ax skid as the scx one hangs down like the sawback one. With the spacers it mounts solid no bend play or movement at all. Just watch when you drill the holes as the trans has to be offset toward the front to center the trans output shafts in the chassis

That pinion angle is no bueno and the body will sit way high to clear the trans...I did the same thing the first few days i had the rig and had more negatives than the single positive of a little more clearance. I'm not trying to be a jerk...saying ahhh dude your idea sucks blah blah blah...if you wanna run it and try it go for it...the beauty of this hobby is creativity and good ol' garage re-engineering....some mods work for some and some don't.

Ive got the body up on the highest post holes already to clear the 1.9 tsls and trans fits without touching the body. The front pinion angle concerns me a little as it torques down under load. Rear is fine torques up. Ive thrown around the idea of wedges to correct the front pinion angle. I have no binding at all. And if it takes some mip shafts to keep everything together the so be it. As for now everything seems to be smooth. Did you pop shafts? Was that the issue?

Ive seen some tamiya highlifts with raised skids with some pretty scary pinion angles
