I still need to clean up all the joints and paint the cage. Trying to decide if I paint the cage black or body color.

Got the sawback back together. Left the cage primered for now. I think it looks much better with this cage, and the 2.2s make the truck. Also got the front bumper permanently mounted. I'll be adding some body protection next. Here are some pics.

Ok,time for another update. The front tube work is done, and brazed on. I also extended the wheelbase to 12", by moving everything in the rear back to existing holes. The big news is the sawback has some new tires. I won't give the info. away until tomorrow. I'll have pics of the new tubing and the new shoes mounted up.

Here are the pics of the new stuff. I added a stinger to the front bumper, and made some sliders and front tube fenders, all brazed solidly to the frame. Extended the w.b. to 12", and most importantly, mounted up the new Pro-Line 2.2 TSL XL'S!!!!!

I don't think the lady in the pic likes it.

That thing is sick. It screams character. Makes me want to run out to my lhs and pic one up and figure out how to braze so I can make a cage and all that armor for it. Great build up. Any updates?

I agree. The design of that cage and integrated bumper look awesome on the sawback. Well done. The tires look a hair big but all in all, great looking rig

Thanks fellas. Yes, I do have some updates. Let me get home this afternoon and I'll post some pics and info. on what has changed. I do plan on picking up a spare frame and body so that I can rebuild this, do some tweaks, and build it slightly different.

Hey, Chief,

Just read the whole thread. Great rig! Curious what paint you used to achieve the dull finish on the outside?

Thanks, John

Now it looks similar to a Traxxas Summit.

Bringing this thread back to life, with an update! I still have my sprung-under sawback, and I made some changes so I figured I'd post some pics and info.
I got rid of the front tube work except for the stinger. I plan on redoing that at some point. The rocker guard tubes got angled up in preparation for a boat side/skid. And the rear of the body was cut off and tubing added. I haven't broken any of the springs, and they're soft and flexy now!

Thanks OSRC!
It just got out of extended hibernation! Haha
I've actually done a little crawling in the last month it, and might go Sunday. If I do, I'll get some outside pics and some action pics/vids.
