4-link Sawback

So bought a Sawback last week and put it together over the weekend and then decided that I wasn't quite happy. So I converted to a 4-link. I am still working out the bugs but aside from how stiff the new suspension is it works well.

Sorry for the quality. I will be trying to get some better pictures soon.

Interesting, I can't tell where all of the links attach because of your back drop. Looking forward to your next photos.

It will work but the angles of the links isnt ideal. Also its hard to tell for sure because of the pics but the top links look a little short compared to the lowers which can make articulation bind a bit.

Looks like all the ends are lined up with existing holes or points of mounting factory. It's a step in the right direction for sure! Keep us in the loop working out the bugs, this might justify me getting another to follow your build lol

Well I haven't had much chance to play with it today. Although I did poick up some rcw4wd rims in white that I will put on tonight at some later point.

The top link is short however there doesn't seem to be much in the way of binding and that might be because overall it is limited in how much any corner can extend because of the shocks. Once I get the shocks figured out then I will be able to tell if I need to move any hardware or put in longer links (or that is my hope).

All the ends did line up to the point that I didn't need to drill any holes. I didn't really even need any extra hardware other then a few longer screws then were in the kit originally.

All the links were Traxxas links and the shocks were ECX. So here are the pictures I promised.

Articulation isn't that bad.

This one shows a nice side view and how I was able to keep the servo in place and the mounting points I used.

Re: 4-link Sawback

Yah if the shocks were off an ECX fast rig the oil and springs are probably a bit stiff. Looks good though.

Looks more capable. Are you going to throw a Panhard in there to keep it squared up or is it not needed? I really like the Sawback. Probably be my next project.

Re: 4-link Sawback

As of right now I don't think a Panhard is needed but I might be wrong, we shall see how it goes once I get it on some rocks.

I am guessing that you have a set of bent leafs? I would send them to you if I didn't think I would be using them on a project that I am thinking about.
