Both myself and quite a few others seem to be using Robinson Racing pinion gears. The 13 tooth in my case.

Also for the record, I use a 27 turn axial can and a 1060 ESC.

I've been sticking with the 7 cell NiMHs as I like the forward weight bias they give, and they were cheap at my LHS. As was the charger.

Got into scale crawling a year ago. Going to get myself a 3-cell lipo and charger online in the coming month or so as I figure it's worth a try and the truck has enough other weight now to get by - and I will need a much smaller battery for my current build.

Not to mention one of my 7 cell NiMH blew up on me this fall and I needed to either replace it with another NiMH or go lipo.

Things have changed since this thread started.

Now my Sawbacks are running the HobbyWing WP 1080 ESC. One has a 35T RC4WD motor and the other has a Team Brood Specter 13T.

I run the stock pinion. Haven't found a reason to change.

Same servo - although mine is the red version. Chassis mounted, but I still submerge it from time to time without issue.

What do you think about the goolrc motor, I was thinking of grabbing one of the 27 turns for another truck - or possibly for the sawback. I find the drag brake doesn't hold with the axial can...

really similar to Yeah Racing Hackmoto. Probably from the same factory with minor differences for branding.

I have a hobbywing 1080 with a savox SW-0231MG and a
TrailMaster Sport 540 35T with a tactic's ttx 300 radio. Pinion is RR 12t

I finally got around to doing some work on my sawback. Did some paint and diamond plate with a spare tire and a couple of fuel cans.
