Thanks ... ...think you watched the vids ( if not please regard my vids in the rocks or in the mountains .... there, the difference might be more visible than in the sand vids) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwE...nnNHoUm0TvoXxg The leafs are not that smooth like the coils -- so it is generally a difference between leaf spring and coilspring vehicles. My Sawback performs not that bad, because of the relatively high weight -- but in general, the SCX "moves" much smoother than the Sawback and crawls most time with 4 wheels on ground. Not so the Sawback --- he lifts more often one wheel .... like the original does Beside the aspect of my more damageable "ScaleBody" the Sawback will reach all the peaks I reach with the SCX. I think it is more a generally question what you want to drive --leave or coil. If you want a truck to drive "scalish", to hit the trails .... it is only a question which design you prefer. Leaves might or will break, if you twist them too hard or if you put too much power on them --- I don't know any case, where the chassis of a SCX made any problems. (at "normal use" and "normal power) I like the Sawback very much and I also want another because it is a truck with a great potential -- but if it will be the first and only truck you want to have, you might be better with the SCX. Absolutely uncomplicated and nearly undestructible at "normal" use -- also with more power. Goes nearly anywhere and anythrough. I have my first AX10 conversion with the same axles and gear since 2007 and 4 others over the years without any issues. Only thing I broke was a cheap to replace part at the steering in winter ....but I use 30kg robotic servos .... Hope I could bring a little "brightness in the fog"... 1st post here.. can't agree more. I also use an SCX10, but with the Sawback I tend to drive it more like a scaler, sometimes I make it, sometimes not. One thing tho'... what shackle set up are you using on your springs? They look like shooter shackles but they don't seem to have lifted the ride like they seem to on Trailfinders. Must figure out how to post pics. old f**ts are not so good with that kind of stuff!

First thing -- yes -- they are shooter shackels from RC4WD .... the first one, they made some years ago for the TAM F350 High-Lift. Maybe ... they fit not perfect with the used GMade leafs and the mounting points . But thought it's a nice looking goody ..... For a proper function, the Damper should be longer... Concerning the "how to post pics" .... you might find some "help" here: Posting Pics For Dummies Personally -- I use Photobucked .... works fine for me ... All the other things , concerning the first questions concerning the forum you migt find here Miscellaneous - Comments, Suggestions, and Help at RCCrawler.com Regards Wolf Last edited by LRTd5; 03-24-2015 at 02:23 PM. | |

Dave... You'r welcome! Glad you like it -- sounds good what you have done. It is allways a risk to give someone a recommendation / or is advice the more correct word (?? ). Since I also have a "special setup" with the steering-damper, I also had to find my own mounting points ...good, that the crawlster4s is so versatile... One week for the parcel -- not bad . ... some additional pics after I built in the rear traction bars .... I am sure, it's not better than the homemade solutions some people did already a long time ago --- but for those who are looking for an easy and fast way ... still a good articulation and I think no more broken leafs ... Since the Unimog with the red wheels isn't in any forum and the "VOLVO C 303 from chimeraa" is not here at RCCRAWLER -- I will pm you the links to more information or pics. I did not find it very friendly to post links to other forums ... even, if many members here are also in other forums active... What I can say -- both started as Axial SCX, the Unimog Cab is a fibre Cab from Hafner Modellsport in Germany, the rest is self constructed from alu, brass and wood ---- the VOLVO Cab is CAD designed from chimreaa/ Flo and made out of polystyrol, 3d-parts, alu .....
