Default Gmade CVA

So I have encountered a problem. Maybe you can help as I don't have a ton of experience in RCs yet.

I am building a sawback. I put the CVA kit up front. I also flipped the chubs and zero ackerman knuckles. The steering is great. I can make my tire hit the leaves, but I cannot run that much steering. When I am trailing and corner at any small speed, I get wheel hop like crazy.

I am thinking I am binding the CVA. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there other CVAs that have more clearance thatl'll fit?

I wanna say I saw a thread when someone used trex cvds. But i believe that was before gmade came out with everything and they used different knuckles.

I don't think that is the problem as I only have like 180oz and it still binds them at full turn.

I have the same issue. It started as soon as I put the aluminum knuckles on

Just the normal set up. From what I read the Cva just suck. I might buy the gpm version. $20. Might be worth it.

I ordered the gpm ones. Gotta wait for shipping but hopefully it fixes this problem. I'll update when I get them.

I've got 4 sets of these running around with modified knuckles and c-hubs. Haven't had a single issue. I must be doing something wrong?

I'm assuming the other way around and I'm doing something wrong. Are you running the zero Ackerman knuckles or just cut original ones? It might be the knuckles.

I have modified stock plastic knuckles, modified aluminum and zero ackerman knuckles, all with the same amount of steering. Only thing I can think of is make sure you keep them clean and greased.

I have only driven in my house or on the sidewalk. No trails or comps yet. This Saturday is the first with it. I used all of the supplied grease to assemble. How sharp is your turning set? If I reduce the throw on my radio it'll run but the steering isn't great.

These tires will actually hit the springs at full turn. Had to drop back down to Ripsaw's for clearance. It will wheel hop slightly when steering is at full throw while running at full throttle. Mostly when running around in the house. Never notice it when I'm actually out crawling. I'm running 3 crawlers with GS01 axles and one with R1 portals. All have been reworked to gain the maximum amount of steering. Haven't had a bit of trouble out of any of them yet, but I run 27T-35T brushed motors on 2s. No excessive power or crazy speeds.

Verdict? I need another set not made by Gmade!

I've been beating my gmade ones hoping they will break. No luck. I'll swap the other ones in and see if they bind for you though. Give me a couple hours.

I'm still at a loss as how people have problems with the Gmade cv's?
I beat the snot outta the 4LS yesterday at a timed hill climb, and after several runs up the hill at full speed and several long tumbles back down without any troubles at all with cv's or any other part for that matter.

I do have a secret that I've tried to share with people for 20 years now, but nobody has yet to listen. I use VersaChem caliper grease on everything. Grease the diffs, tranny and cv's with it. It sticky, so it stays where you put it for the most part, and after a year on my original Sawback the diff gears have no wear at all. I also keep a close eye on all CV joints in all of my rigs. Keep them clean and greased! This grease will make a stock Sawback shock dampen like an oil shock too.

Perhaps something happened that I am unaware of but this run was very mild and the shaft snapped right at the ball with only 2 trail runs on them not the typical rock comps that I typically run. Perhaps I am just unlucky. At $20 for either option, not a huge deal. I do think the turning radius is awesome. On the other hand the Vanquish VVDs on my SCX10 has rolled off cliffs and are still going.

I've read where a lot of people have had similar issues as you. I'm beginning to think I may just be lucky.
