Default Sawback ARTR Metamorphasis

Just finished repainting the ARTR I bought. Also put in a custom front battery mount you can see the aluminum peeking out under the well. Ordered a bunch of parts from RPP over the weekend during the sale. One question, what is the best driveline bang for the buck? Will the Axial Wild Boar HDs fit? Under $20 online and pretty indestructible. Also thinking about CMS. Any tips and tricks appreciated.

I'm running the wb8 shafts. Had to drill out the holes for the larger pin but other than that they fit perfect.

Any other drive shaft recommendations?

Why? You said yourself these are good shafts? And not expensive. I'm sure you'd ruin the trans or leafs before the shafts.

This is my cms. Just mounted the original upside down on the frame and used spacers. Seen it on here.

Thought I would update this thread with some of the mods I have done so far. Let's start with the free CMS mod that bolts right up. Just use existing servo mount and spacers and mount to the shock tower and post mount.

Next there is the custom battery mount made from aluminum and the front Anti-Wrap Bars from Gmade.

Here are the rear Anti-Wrap Bars from Gmade.

And the overall layout so far including the Gmade rock sliders. Notice I changed to some R35 Trepadors. An extremely underrated tire in my experience and still a good fit on the Sawback.

Had to move the tie rod below the leafs again. Pretty tight on top with CMS and stock shackles. Used a locknut for a drag link spacer. Also notice the absolutely magnificent Zero-Ackerman Knuckles and links.

With good tires, battery up front, and the steering mods this is one heck of a crawler. My SCX10 better keep an eye on the rear-view mirror.

Next up, I need to wire the winch, add BEC (servo struggles at 5v) and extend the battery cable (tight stretch as is). Future will see some tubes in axles, WB8 HD driveline, and SCX10 or other shocks.

Flip the servo mount over and take a plastic leaf spring bushing and space the servo down with some longer bolts. It will give you enough room to mount the tie rod on the top of the knuckle.

I would suggest a gpm aluminum servo mount also. My plastic one would bend too much one way while trying to comp. I would lose steering like crazy.

I will keep this in mind. Had enough room originally but it was rubbing on the spring and tight. Will try it as is then change things if needed. I like the way it is set now because the drag link is about parallel with the tie rod and should not have much bump steer at all. Theoretically if I raised the servo bump steer could increase. Good info in any case!
