| Sawback - to buy or not
Thinking of buying a Sawback kit for a scalebuild. What the pro's av con's of the Sawback? The other option for me is too build a MST cmx kit. |

Do it! I love my two leaf spring Sawbacks. I had it out yesterday for the first time in a while and I forgot how much I love it. I've been driving my Ascender a lot, but I am going to get back to driving my Sawback. The Sawbacks are different animals because they are leaf spring rigs so they have to be driven differently.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I guess if you're looking to do a scale build... you can't go wrong with leaf springs for the Sawback. On the other hand... the MST CMX kits do real nice with Tamiya bodies. Both good kits though. I just finished building a Sawback 4LS (4-link), but I've also got a Sawback Sport (leaf spring) that hasn't been built yet. I'm definitely going to start on the leaf spring one soon to compare. |

If you're going 4-link there are better kits out there, but if you want leaf springs the Sawback is awesome. The only thing the leaf spring kit needs is the anti-wrap bars to prevent bending the leaf springs. You can make your own or buy them from GMade like I did. They are inexpensive add ons. The MST CMX has a lot of plastic on it and the aftermarket is nonexistent as of now. |

I do love the leafsprings and the looks of the Sawback. I've already got a tf2, a class 2 and Class 3 comp rig. The Sawback looks like a nice trailrig. |

| Re: Sawback - to buy or not It's such a fun truck. If you love leaf springs I think you'll love the Sawback. It will put your TF2 to shame stock for stock.

Jato is right! The Sawback is just an awesome little rig. Simple, tough and just fun to drive. if you get bored with it, you can then start modifying it and turn it into a surprisingly capable crawler. I've taken modifying mine so far that I'm planning on buying a second one cause I miss how much of a fun trail rig it was in stock form. Get yourself one and let the smiles begin.

I got a leaf sprung sawback a while back because a TF2 seemed to be too expensive. Today I have three of the tf2s and guess what: they are sitting on the shelf 'cause I enjoy the sawback more - lol. I did some changes to it though: CMS, front is linked, rear has Delrin leaf springs, chassis shortened half an inch and body is a Vaterra Bronco. Zero Ackerman steering is great and it needs heavy wheels. Crawls through tons of places none of my other rigs go. Last edited by fxman; 04-26-2017 at 06:05 AM. |

The springs are from Peppe! rc crawler veicoli radiocomandati per fuoristrada estremo or www.facebook.com/rc.crawler.it In case you don't know him - he speaks english and is very friendly. Shipping from Italy takes about ten days. He is "dangerous" - offers all kinds of great parts... I will be in Europe this summer and order parts again while I am there. At first I thought, they would be way too stiff, but after a while they started working great. And I don't think you can break them. | |
