GMade Komodo

Hi!

I have had a few SCX10 and Wraith trucks and was thinking about getting something new.

Is the Komodo a good choice or should I just get another SCX10?

Many thanks!

One thing that makes me hesitate about the Komodo is the spare parts availability. It doesn`t seem to be that many companies that carry spare parts for this truck.

The GMade Sawback is basically a Komodo with leaf springs. It's a great truck and very fun. Very capable for a leaf spring truck. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a leaf spring rig.

If you want a 4-link rig I would advise against the Komodo. Get the Ascender or SCX10 II instead.

I have a Komodo RTR (thread on here somewhere) and I really like it. The main issue is the steering, but a set of CVD’s and zero Ackerman arms and it steers as well as my Ascender.

Some people hate on the suspension design and it actually works well. When you cycle the suspension by hand, it feels strange because there is not much up and down, but on the rocks it shows almost zero torque twist and the weight transfer over obstacles is slow and predictable because of the heavy shock oil. I’m still running the stock servo and esc and installed a 35t motor and it runs great on 3s.

Another weird thing is the body mounted bumpers, but they actual work well because they flex out of the way against rocks.

It’s a good value and a fun truck to drive.
