Default Brass axle tubes won't fit!

Everything I found through searching on here led me to believe they would slide right in. On the contrary, the Gmade brass axle tubes won't go in more than half way.

I have cleaned out the casings (from the outside with a q-tip), I even tried a little grease to lube em up and "lightly" tapping them with a hammer.

I am quite sure I have the long one on the correct side, but either way, neither one will go in more than an inch and change.

Do the casings need to be drilled out? I want to to get the truck back together before the weekend as my other rigs are all in various states of assembly / disassembly.

I have them in both axles, and they pushed right in. Not sure if you plan on running them in both axles, but did you try to install them in the rear axle? You may just have a bad molding on your axle housing.

I tried to put them in the rear axle, yes. I have more than enough weight in the front, but the rear doesn't get adequate traction due to being too light.

thought I might grab another set for the front in the future, but they won't even go into the rear.

Probably crimped the axle housing when tightening the leaf springs. I noticed on one side of mine that it was tough going in and looking deeper I tightened up the leaf spring hangers so much that I distorted the housing a bit. Bevelled the leading edge of the brass tube a bit so it didn't dig into the plastic, smeared it with some grease and tapped it in with a mallet.
