I finally got my .475 hubs on and now the tires tuck perfectly inside the fenders. I've been in a mental slump lately, haven't spoken a word in over a week, CT and MRI don't show a stroke, but the Dr's don't know what my problem is. I guess it's somebody's way of saying I need to shut up once in a while. While sitting in my garage in silence, staring at all my unfinished projects, I said heck with it and ran the truck (bodyless) on my home crawler course. This thing crawls as good as I'd hoped it would, but the turning radius resembles that of a school bus, and the foams are waaaaay too soft, both have been on the to-do list anyway. I'm thinking C.I. dual stage med/med for foams since this truck has a pretty good forward weight bias. Still undecided on steering since a set of Gmade CV's and zero ackerman knuckles will cost nearly as much as a front K44, but then I'd need a rear axle too. Hmm. On a brighter note: my metal emblems showed up today! I know I'm being a nerd, but these little guys put a smile on my face! |

I've been eyeing a cheap "LS engine" motor cover on ebay and decided to give it a shot. For $26, it looks pretty decent and will allow my 550 motor to still fit. The fan inside the intake is a nice touch. Check it out: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Simulation-...=1979523929008 I (mostly) glued the interior together, but I still haven't had that "lightbulb" moment to figure out the rear body posts, that's really the big hold up at this point. I bent a piece of 1/4" solid round stock for the main hoop of the front bumper, but I don't want to tack it on until the body mounts/position are finalized. I think the take-off shocks from my new Bully2 (Yay! More projects!) are going to find their way onto the back of this thing too. They're the right length, have smooth bodies, and more stroke than the stock Sawback shocks. I can just add a faux reservoir and a little "FOX" sticker and they'll be close enough for me! |

After MANY more tests and visits to just about every type of specialist known to man, it was confirmed that I did indeed have a stroke, albeit a minor one. My speech has been slowly coming back, so I think (hope) that the worst is behind me. No progress to speak of (see what I did there?) but I did order another "must have" part, a steering wheel/column/shifter from MrCommaD: https://www.mrcommad.com/products/ch...eel-and-column , so that's pretty exciting (hey, it's the little things in life...) My Ebay LS3 arrived too and it looks great! The MST transmission has the motor situated pretty much right where it needs to be under the hood, better than their intended fitment on a TRX4. It just needs a little sanding on the exhaust manifolds to clear the shock hoops, and some paint, and it'll be stylin'! |
