"thumbsup"... like, what You have done with the PowerWagon.
Shouldn't be the last one ...

Great paint job. Very realistic... More pics are very welcome ;-)
Awesome job on the canopy and the bumpers! Full steel?

Damn! I'm speechless. This is excellent work and saying that really isn't doing it justice. You did such a great job. I love the weathering! "thumbsup"

Re: Last one?

Thanks for the positive comments, and yes Wolf, the bumpers are all steel. pictures seem to be sorted now, so.. a little words and a few pics. Always like running the Sawback, for a couple or three years now. OK its no Trailfinder, can't bring myself to spend that much, but it is a "leafy" and as such more fun for scale driving. But, it needed a little care so I stripped it. Cleaned and re shimmed the transmission, quiet now, fitted Junfac shafts, beef tubes front and rear, Gmade zero kit, and CMS. Moved the battery to the front on a scatch built VERY low mount, and electrics to the rear. Running an Ascender ecs at present while waiting for my Hobbywing 1080. Fitted a servo winch with the excellent Heyok controller inside, and other stuff I've forgotten! Anyway, some pics..

Had to make a rear and front bumper, sorry lost the pics in raw steel, this in etch primer

A little more..made a bracket and fitted the servo winch with Heok controller
https://i.imgur.com/SM6rVpc.jpg
Started on the body by cutting the bed short to match the wheelbase and cutting out the grill section to fabricate a more, I hope realistic one

https://i.imgur.com/yIx3eYq.jpg

Luck had it that the Jeep body sliders I had used matched the shortened body
[img]https://i.imgur.com/X4ZMgZV.jpg[/i
Started on an interior with a seat and tool boxes to cover the transmission
https://i.imgur.com/j7CsHHp.jpg
Seat is balsa wood with surgical tape covering and painted

Bought some really excellent dash parts from RCnerds, can't praise them enough for quality and fit

Although I didn't realise the clear instrument parts need to be flatted and polished to fit! Spent ages with 600,1200 then 1200 paper and metal polish, but it worked, just need new finger tips now.

Re: Last one?

A little more of this..After making the toolbox etc to cover the transmission I realised the driver was far to heavy so I gutted him and changed his head,
https://i.imgur.com/U1NPTgL.jpg
Moving on to the body, I cut out the windows the way I've found best. Firstly I score round the window with the BACK side of a curved blade three or four times, then make four holes inside the score with a reamer and increase them until they touch the score lines. Lastly, I use the sharp edge to break through and finish with a file and paper. No pics I'm afraid but I hope its clear. I couldn't find any lights to suit, so made them by making round progressively smaller pieces of styrene glueing them then turning in a Dremel while shaving with blade to shape.

Headlamp buckets are fitted with Maglight reflectors and Gmade lense decals.
The body film was stripped off, painting the inside with a silver base and black after flatting the whole thing inside and out and cleaning with automotive body panel wipe, then on to the fun bit.

Two coats of Tamiya ps white,
https://i.imgur.com/UCcWXnQ.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/PJTrB16.jpg?1
After a full day I splatterd (?) the body where it was going to be rusty with various Tamiya paints I can't remember, Lino brown, bright orange, dull red spring to mind. I don't warm the cans for this, and from about 8" I spray by only just pressing the, er, knob so the paint dribbles out and lies quite thick. On some areas, I make rough masks the shape I want the rust, holding them about 2" away, and leave it all a couple of days.
https://i.imgur.com/09SlCIi.jpg?1
Paint the black bit and after a day flat with 600 or 800 paper and water taking off as much as needed to show the base and this is the result.
https://i.imgur.com/Oi121KJ.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/TauhCcR.jpg?1
Bits of salt where I want more cruddy rust and spray Tamiya dark yellow, about three coats and lave for ages!
https://i.imgur.com/mOPEg4M.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/HV9wxpd.jpg?1
When you flat the whole thing with 800 and soapy water this is what you get, then its just the fine tuning using Tamiya weathering powder mixed with cleat lacquer as on the underside.

Apologies, last two pics are out of sequence.. they are an extra layer of rust paint between top coats.

should have been these. Lining tape used for shut lines was 0.3mm, what a pain.

And then the last of the details, fitting light bits, tow hitch lots of hooks with 1.2 mm bolts (!) and a tarp sewn by my long suffering lady.

Re: Last one?

Thanks for the comments, Wolf. Yes there are some pics of the trailer in the "post your trailer" section of the Scale accessories heading. It was made to the same scale as the Sawback but looks ok on the dodge. Its a bit oversprung really and like a drunk pig to reverse witb the home made pintel...or maybe I'm just crap at going backwards!

Wow -- think that these fenders are not only bullet proof , but bomb proof :lmao:.

Yup.. they are, but surprisingly light as well. Tried them in styrene but after two attempts, gave up..instead I spent the next 2days or so making the fuel cans,

The only thing that could make this build better is if Lt.Dan was driving. Because you know he didn’t have any legs
