Default Dig ?, 4wd-fwd-brake Or 4wd-fwd Only ?

ive read alot about digs tonight and i was wondering why are the two different styles used. 4wd-fwd and brake im sure turns alot better but the ones that are just 4wd and fwd would be used for what ? up steep inclines ? i can see it helping the turning.

thanks guys.

Locking the rear helps with digging on high grip surfaces. Both help grab ledges when climbing. A locked rear will help keep you from rolling backwards on a climb and the free wheel will work better in allowing you to climb once the ledge is hooked. Dig can also be used for many other things while driving, like wrapping around a rock with the truck on it's side. The uses become apparent once you start to use it. It is a user preference as to which one (or both) you want to set up and use.
