i've just got a few questions that couldn't be solved threw searching what is the thinest transmission out there (front to back length) what is the cheapest transmission to buy(new or 2nd hand) and what would be a good compromise between price and size this is for a 2.2, and i need 4 for this one truck (hence needing them cheap), and they need to be really thin so i can mount them properly and keep good clearance and drivetrain angles |

The stealth trans is pretty small and you can find them on ebay.

I'd have to say the AX10 trans. Its cheap and thin, although pretty tall with the spur gear on it. But if your looking for compact, the RC4WD R2 is the only choice.

i have an ax10 and the transimmsion in that is pretty small i would buy some r2 trannies but i have a limit of $250 australian on this and will be able to do it for that price by building EVERYTHING i'm thinking of running the motors into big reduction units(20:1) instead of a transmission |

I use the the xxxt matt francis tranny.. very small, light, strong. They usually sell for around 25us on ebay and are a similar size to the AX10 tranny. You need to lock the ball diff in it tho, and work out how to mount driveshafts into the dogbone cups. Not an easy task, but doable. http://search.ebay.com.au/search/sea...&fsop=1&fsoo=1 whats the average OVERALL gear ratio for a 2.2 ??? |

I would go with a R2, they are nice and small with no big spur gear to worry about ...but if money is an obstical, get some ax10 trannies, less than half the price of an r2 and still plenty small. |
