I wish I could find 1 of those to build a crawler with.

What's the brand? Where did you score it at?

jehuteh 02-04-2008 05:44 PM

it used to be venom mini giant but has since changed hands four or five times, the latest version is called A-Tech Leo-X

ebay is the best source for these anymore.

I have one.
It has an H2 body..Trinity Monster motor/battery pack, Hitec micro servo and some HPI wheels/tires.

This truck has always been built by a company called Atech. Venom just added there name and distributed them as well as a couple other companies. Now Atech has a stateside manufacturing facility and distributes for themselves. I'm not sure whether any hobby stores have them or not, but this guy has them new pretty much continueously.

Hmmm... I've had one collecting dust for years. They did make some pretty damn capable crawlers. Never got around to finding a gearbox to gear it down or an adapter to change wheels. I think I saw somewhere that a reduction system for an airplane or something from tower works as a gearbox though. Hmmm... maybe it's time to dig these little rigs out.

A new class of comp rig?

please post a video!!!!!looks fun and cheap I guess..:?:am I wrong?
Do U mind sending some info on the price and availability for the hop up parts?"thumbsup"

Mr_Freeze:
On the wheel issue. I have 12mm wheels on there now, and what I did was get whatever size wheels and with the new size hexes, drill a hole in the middle of one of the sides and put a set screw in there so it stays put. You gotta be sure though to drill the hole in the MIDDLE, or else when the wheels spin, they wobble(i found that out..).

as far as the gearbox goes you need to install an electric airplane gearbox,
i thinks it's 6:1 ratio but you have to make a mounting bracket. i'm working on that little by little.

is there a high turn small motor available. my fireball in my mini giant is way too much. no amount of reducing is going to make that sucker crawl...

another VMG person? I've had one of these for about 4 years, bought a second just so I could make a 4ws setup.
The fireball is way to hot, it's a bashing motor. The stock one is better, it can only almost pull wheelies. I believe the great planes GD-600 is the gear reduction most people use, thats the one I got. It has a motor and everything. You just need to fab up a motor plate to mount it to the tranny. IIRC, RC18t rear wheels will fit the hexes and solve the wheel issues.

Those purple wheels look familiar. I wonder if parts of that were once on this one.
