Default strange sound from esc or drivetrain???

not sure if i'm in the right topic thread but i have a few questions. i just put together a bender sw2 with locked pede tranny, ax10 axles, ax10 spur and pinion, hh crawlmaster sport brushless, cc sidewinder. i'm getting a really high pitch squeal sound from either the drivetrain or esc, i'm not sure which, when i barely give it throttle from a stand still. is this a common thing? is there something wrong with my set up? any help would really be appreciated. thank you...

That is most likely the noise that the motor makes when being driven by a Castle ESC. They emit a high pitch beep which changes as the throttle changes.

i was thinking the same thing

but he said it drives so it cant be that bad if it was too tight that motor and esc would let him know

if it was to loose their would be nothing left of the spur gear!

yeah, my gear mesh is okay. has a slight bit of play to it. so that end is covered. so it's probably nothing to worry about? if i just touch the throttle slightly where it's not enough to move the truck it will make the sound.

yeah its what john said

brushless makes a lot of noise its just the motor and esc communicating with you

Nothing to worry about!

not to highjack, but...

why do they make that noise, is it a physics thing or does Castle design them to make that noise on purpose?

John can go in depth more on this but, Its the motor that makes most of the noise but why i dont know

some motors are real quiet like the original revolver on the mamba max that was a quiet set up

The motor is a speaker, the ESC is the amplifier that tells it what to do. The startup of Castle's firmware uses audible frequencies to keep the motor in sync with the ESC, and is a major part of the startup routine.

That noise is enough to keep the dogs away from us when we're crawling at the park!
