go buy new screws from a hardware store, and put lock tight on the screws before you install them.

No don't junk it. There is a thread out there that shows how to fix this problem with slightly longer screws and thin jamb nuts on the inside of the tranny case. it's an easy fix, ya just gotta split the trans wide open.
A good time to lube the gears at the same time.

I had to do that on one of the screws holding my dig together. It has to be a really thin nut to work w/o roubbing the gears inside the tranny. I used one of the thin M3 nuts that come on TLT axles and still had to thin it down a hair. Works flawless now, especially with the Rocksmith teflon bushings in it.

One of mine screws was stripped outta the package. I just replaced all there screws. I just inserted a button head M3 bolt from inside the case to the out and put and locknut on the outside....don't have any clearance issues.

i have had to repair 2 of my r2d trans for that problem, the treads pull out of the case. i countersank the holes from the inside and put lock nuts on the outside. problem repaired. the countersunk screws i think are 3mm by 28 or 30mm

damn how many people are having this issue?
all 3 screws that hold dig stripped out on mine while testing the dig. tried using 3mm nuts(ground very thin) but still get clearence issues with large gear inside tranny. contacted rc4wd they want $35 for new back plate. I DON"T THINK SO. will have to wait for my VF dig to come in and use that.

I had the same problem with R2D screws stripping.I just used traxxas 40mm screws and used them on the inside of the tranny with a little grinding of the heads to clear the gears, cut the screw to fit,and used nylock nuts with locktite.problem solved.now all of my friends are following in my foot steps.

I even got rid of stupid clear plastic dust cover and cut one out of steel and made it look just like the plastic one to mount my servo..Nothing flexes at all..now my little secret is out to the world..

Hope this helps out my fellow rc rockcrawlers...

I still love my R2D transmisson and would'nt change it for some thing different....

Came home after a day of crawling and noticed I was missing two of the three screws. threadlock did the trick.. now its time for the teflon bushings!

It's not good business if there appears to be a defective product, I say make it right. I brought a diablo chassis to use with my r2d, then had to buy a new punisher shaft because one side I need a longer shaft. spending all this money only to find out 1 part is now totally useless. making my current setup obsolete. tried to mount axail tranny to diablo chassis but won't fit. Guess I'll just have to chalk this up as a huge loss and move on.
can't wait for my VF dig (at least they go out of there way for Q.C.)
