ok i have an r2d with a novak 55t and a 12t pinon running axial axles i would like a little more wheel speed without loosing tork. (low end) bought a 45t to try out, but dont know what pinon to use leave the 12tooth or go down to 11tooth or the 8 tooth that the r2 came with(most likely too low) oh i run 6 cell 4500 maybe leave it and go to a 7th cell???????? im soooo confused...... thanx

Go with the 45 with the same pinion that will give you a good starting point. I personally run a R2 tranny as well I run a 14t pinion, castle sidewinder, 55t, AND 11.1 3s Lipo's. Wheel speed is good and torque can be to much some times. But I like it and don't plan on changing it. Best thing to do is EXPERIMENT your style of crawling will not be the same as the next.

Adding more cells will help get you some more wheel speed... I would try out the 45t with the 12 tooth pinion. If that turns out to be too little torque, you can always re-gear. Another option is to add a cell, put in the 45t, and drop down to the 8 tooth. That should be good.

Just change one thing at a time. Document it. Keep on changing it till you get what you want. Higher Turn - More Torqure/less wheel speed Higher Voltage - More torque/more wheel speed Smaller Pinion/Larger Spur - More torque/Less wheel speed I'm sure you already know that but for anyone who doesn't. There ya go.
