It may very well be 48p because of the smaller bore. That fits a small 2.3mm shaft and not the standard 1/8" (~3mm) shaft.

Are you looking for a gear for a 540 sized or similar....or something smaller like 1/18 scale?

That looks to be .5 module that is common on heli's. It is way too small for a crawler, unless you're running a mini-T or 18T.

Smallest thing I could find was a 12T 48p. RobinsonRacing if I remember correctly. I went to a 90T spur (on an AX10, not sure what you;re running.) People have said you can get a larger spur than 90t on there, but mine barely clears the output shaft.

I think a 12tooth pinion in 48 pitch is going to be the smallest readily available. I could have sworn that I've seen a tooth or two smaller, but can't remember where.
You could always try to up the spur gear size to get the same effects as shrinking the pinion. Unless you're out of space already.

Why? - are you wanting to go really slow - consider going to a higher wind motor - if you're running a 55 - consider a 65 - I've never seen anything smaller than a 12t.

i have a 96t spur and a 12t pnion on my pti goliath w/ a 55t motor.
and i know that rc4wd has a 10 or 9t pinion.

just trying to find the smallest... with out having to spend a lot on a gear reduction.

but nobody has answered my ? yet... is that pinion a 48p?

12/96 running a 55t.....and you want lower

14/81 running a 35t on a 3 cell lipo is barely fast enough.

Running gear reductions is SOOOO 2004.

It won't fit a standard 540 motor shaft.

I think the only answer I saw is that it might be, but it wouldn't fit a 540 motor shaft anyways (without milling the shaft down). And that it's going to be way too small for a crawler... It's only 9.4mm long. Take into account the set-screw (you can't mesh that with the spur) and it's only has a contact point of half that.

But if you need some sort of definite answer, try emailing Heli-Max for the info.

I think the consensus is that it wouldn't work and that you should consider other options.

*EDIT* raptorman beat me too it. I agree with him, too.

If you want it slower, switch over to 32p gears. You get alot more gearing choices.

9 tooth 48 pitch: http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=35989

10 tooth: http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=35927

11 tooth: http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=35928

12 tooth: http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=54147

Package of all 4: http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=32742

I haven't tried any of these yet. The space between the teeth and end that will go closest to the motor looks to be rather large, so some might have problems getting them to fit. I guess you could space out your spur gear if you needed clearance.

the pti doesnt have a tranny, its direct drive. and its pretty fast...too fast!

a gru is my only way to go slower and get more torque w/o changing up my whole set up.

anyways thanks for the help guys!
i'll probably email heli-max and see waht they say.
probably just end up gatting a gd-600.

Nice, I saw something like this before, but it was for 18th scale...

Why?

If a 8T will do you great, a 9T will do you just fine. gr33nlemon linked above to a 9T that will "bolt on" directly to your motor, whereas the 8T of the Heli (if it is 48P), will require milling down your motor shaft to be able to fit. The 9T is a couple of bucks more, but for the ease, it seems like the logical solution.

If there is no tranny, and it's direct drive.....what the hell are you mounting the 96t spur to and what will you be mounting the GD600 to?

Direct drive........a 55t should be just right for that
