Default Best tranny?

Im thinking about building a custom crawler and wanted to know opinions on trannys? What do YOU think is the best and why? At first I was thinking about an e-maxx tranny so I could have the 2 speed, but after thinking about it I want to use independant 4ws and I only have 3 channel radios...so I wouldent be able to shift anyway.

And please dont tell me clod trannys...I already have a clod (and love it) but I want to experament with a drive shaft truck..

i use both a Maxx tranny and a stampede tranny. my next crawler will use a Maxx tranny. if you use a Maxx, you will want to lock it in 1st gear anyway to eliminate the slop( much nicer ) but im gonna use the maxx since it seems stronger and you dont have to mess around with converting the driveshafts like on the pede tranny.the pede trans has smaller axles and are not up to the task of a crawler and you will want to use the Maxx sliders. but i say the Maxx tranny is your best bet

as soon as you take it apart, you will see where the slop is in between both big gears. you will see the shifter/slide arm to where it shifts gears. then you will see where the one gear has notches to slide into the other. just glue those together. i just used super glue on mine and its been holding for awhile now

I made an AL piece that fit inside the engage area on the drive gears that reduced slop. So instead of 180 degrees of slop there is about 2 degrees. I have tested it but not in a complete truck “mine is still being built” so I don’t know how long term ware will workout. If you just blip the throttle until it engages it does so smoothly.

So you did this and can still use 2nd gear? I'm wanting a 2 speed and kinda figured I'd just get used to and live with the slop. PICS PICS PICS please

for small crawler i would say a losi xxx tranny or a stealth tranny.

for big scale go with emaxx tranny. the danm this is so easy to mount thats the main reason i like it.
