Default some porch pics of my crawlers

the weekend was real nice, so i parked my butt on the porch, zip tied a couple chairs together, and busted out the crawlers for a nice relaxing afternoon.

none of the pics are posed, unless you consider driving it to a pretty pose a poser shot. ;)

my boyer buggy:
the link geometry isnt where i would really like it to be since i moved the lower links to clear the reduction units, but after you get the hang of it and learn how to approach stuff its still pretty darn capable. i plan on just tryin some 9t pinions and moving the links back to where they should be or tryin to get creative and bend the links to clear the reduction units.

my first pvcrawler:
i havent driven this in awhile and using 1/4 servos on my other jeep spoiled me. i made maybe 3 runs over the chairs and put it away, the steering is pathetic compared to the other jeep, the tires need cut, needs some limiting straps, and it just plain needs some major supsension tuning now that i'm not just looking for flex.

my latest creation:
my pvc marlboro adventure team crawler, still working on it but its together enough to run. this thing is way cool, the steering power is fantastic, even being powered just by the super roosters bec it kicks tail. for what it is its very stable, and is the best performing rig i have so far. needs some foams in the tires, and maybe some stiffer springs but other than that it came out pretty damn nice. still gotta rig up the servo batteries, mount and wire some more ram lights, and get the decals made. i know its nowhere near a competition-style rc crawler but i did try to keep everything low and make sure i had a really nicely balanced rig and i am very pleased with it.

I'm always amazed at your work, I'm really diggin the the marlboro jeep with the kongs. I know your an expert at cutting tires but here's a pic of a nice place to start cutting the kongs. These cuts gave me some decent flex without loosing too much support.

i do plan on cutting the kongs, removing that center section like you did would be a good start. i think i'll run them for awhile uncut before i get dremel happy tho. i think when i do decide to mod them i will narrow them by about an inch and try cutting the tread sections into strips and gluing them back together creatively to get a more unique tread design. even tho modding tires can be a pain, i really get into it. i can spend all day hunched over with a dremel in my hand.

the tires on the buggy are tamiya mammoth dump truck tires that have ALOT of dremel work put into them. took over 2 tedious hours a tire, and i actually burned up a dremel on them. they look great and are hella scale, but even after all that cutting they still aint as good as a single dually tire from a traction standpoint.

jeep_boy02, those jeep bodies are made my 21st century toys, which have discontinued that truck. Only place to find one is ebay or the for sale ads in r.c forums.

I swear, Hootpy....you and those Mammoths!

I haven't finished them yet. Time consuming cuts.

It's all your fault!
