Default Servo batts?

How many run a seperate battery for their servos instead of running off of the ESC/motor batts?

How big of batts, you runnin? Servos? Im using 2 645's. Didnt think they would drain a batt quickly. They seem the better way to go as far as power is concerned though????

I just run an external 5 cell hump pack from venom racing products. seems to help the run times a bit and let the servos do their jobs better. (but i guess runtime isnt bad on a crawler with 9ths and 12 cells )

Yeah, the reciever pack does help with the steering power. I am running a 5 cell hump pack and it does seem like it drains fairly quickly. I would say it lasts for a couple of my six cell packs, but I do not get long run time on my 6 cell packs becuase I am running two motors still. I ordered the parts for the mamoth reduction so when I install that I will be only running one motor so my run times should go way up.

We will see how the reciever pack lasts with the different setup. I am guessing that will be my bigest frustration since I only have one reciever pack but have 6 or 7 6 cell packs.

I just installed a Hobbico HydriMax 6v 2000mah 5 cell with 1/4 scale servos and my run times a great now, I havent timed it yet but I crawled most of the day yesterday at the KY crawl on one charge, the batts in my crawler out lasted my Tx nicads. This battery is about $40 but definatly worth looking into.

I just ordered a Tower 1/4 servo last night and will run it off a HPI nihm 6 volt pack. The tech notes on Towers site says you can't run it thru the reciever as it will damage it (the reciever) so I got the y harness and hope I can figure it out. I run nitro so run times don't matter . I may just run two packs, one for the servo and the other for the receiver. More weight= more contact pressure . I just want the servo to work as good as it can.
