Default no springs

I've seen a few pics, including the one on the home page of this site, where guys run the shocks with no springs. has anyone done this, if so how well does it work. I was thinking of trying this on my next crawler

yup a few people have done it. Another trick is to run mini t springs inside a 4" shock.

I am currently running with no shocks on my maxx hybrid. It works soo much better than with shocks on it. The suspenion now moves a lot better abd easier and the truck doens't sit as high.

but do you still get as much traction without the spring pushing the axle down?

I get just as much if not more because the truck flexes better and It can hold and angle better than it did with shocks on. SO instead of the truck flipping over or onto it's side the tires now can stick better and pull it up or around things I couldn't before.
