Very cool, It's kinda fun doing things from scratch and having a trail and error. You never know what you could end up with, great build.

I think that rig kicks ass!!! I love to see stuff from scratch. Anyone can buy and modify rtr crap. But it takes a little more to build it on yer own!! Many props to you for that!!! |

Black and decker!!! I love it... My sides are hurting from laughing but I do love it. It reminds me of a comp crawler I tried to build from a nylint 1:18 ..

This thread had me crackin up! I cant believe you got that to perform as well as it does. That's killer! I know how hard it is to make parts. Especially when you got nothin to make parts with except ingienuity. Great Job |

speed is not a consideration as this is a crawler the gearbox , planetary type g/b , this is the strongest g/b known as at any one time 3 ( THREE) splines on the pinion on the motor are in contact with the other gears , unlike a spur gearbox where it is a 1 to 1 spline contact which is easier to strip. The motor spin's at +_ 12000 rpm and the gearbox gears it down to a amazing 180 rpm ! , B&D use steel gears so even better. the motor: brushed , yes I know ....brushed vs brushless ....yayaya BUT , this is a powerful motor 380 putting out a incredible 800 g/cm stall torque , I always look at the stall torque as this indicates how much force it will take to stop the motor turning , and there are 2 of them ! now with all this considered , a strong g/b , power motor , and now connecting to a traxxas diff geared down AGAIN to +_ 2.6:1 which gives +- 33 rpm at the wheels , well I havent done the math but its a lot of torgue on the wheels ! , and at the price of 2 elec screwdrivers I dont think Ive gone wrong. As for the batteries 2 x 4 AA pack 2800 nimh in parrallel outputing 4.8 volts , Ive run this setup for 2 hours non stop already with no sigh of the batteries fading. The 4 x AAA's are for the rc reciever. | |

| more vids ...actual rock climing , etc ...
these vids where still with the "old" gearbox's / motors and the soft springs , Ive since got harder springs and of course B&D g/b / motors think B&D will sponsor my next project ???? ....lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plbh358isbc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QypNl-LqhuE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhWp8AmFCqQ |

Nice videos. The more I see it perform, the more respect I have for your build. I would love to see some bigger tires on it. Are you opposed to running a crawler type wheel? Then you could add weight to them and improve your COG. Just a thought. |
