Shorter links in front or back I have read that if you are doing a 60/40 split the short links should be in the front. I have seen pics of some rigs that look like there front links are much longer. I understand that putting the shorter links in the front will put more weight over the front axle, but are there advantages to having longer links up front? Thanks, Dan |
From my experiance no. I built a tube frame just for the heck of it and recycled links form other projects so it had about a 60 up front and 40 out back, the front links would drag on anything I tried to climb and made some thing impossible. It was more capable in reverse than it was going forward |
you want more weight forward so when you are on steep climbs the front tires have more weight on them with a 50/50 split. so shorter links up front for a "cab forward" design. |
Thanks for the replies guys. I will play around with different lengths of links. I will just keep the shorter links up front. Dan |
Another vote for short fronts. |
Short links in the front and long high clearance (j-hook) links in the rear. |
