Default steel spur

so i'm getting a bigger spur for my maxx crawler and was wondering.....
would a steel spur work better? i know racers don't like them because they are heavy and slow the car down, but for crawling it seams like they would work great. you would never strip them (or melt them). i will probably just get a regular plastic one but i was just wondering.

thanks

I don't see a need for it either. I ran a super heavy E-maxx for years and I think I replaced the spur gear once, and that was just because I wanted a bigger spur.
