ok I know that on leaf spring trucks that the leaf springs are the springs and the damper is kinda like the shock body, but I'm confused about some trucks that have the leaf springs and shocks with springs on them too.... what the benifeit of it and down side?

so the leafs dont over flex and break(plastic) or bend flat and stay flat(metal)

Not if they are made from quality delrin or spring steel... and they aren't overextended repeatedly.
