Default Rod Link Fabbers, Where Are You Getting Taps From?

For those that have built your own steering/suspension links with solid rod, where are you purchasing your (M3 or M4) taps? I am having a hard time finding small metric taps individually sold, and don't want to buy another huge set. Are you finding them locally? Or having to get them online?

Thanks

I got mine at a local nuts and bolt store. Look under bolts in your phone book or McMaster has them too. I really like ordering **** from mcmaster, but for one drill you will probably be better off locally.

Careful when you buy those metric sets.

I made the mistake of buying a set and the M3 tap was M3...but at a .6 pitch.

EVERY 3mm machine screw we use has a .5 pitch.

Better off buying the single tap from the get-go.

Fawk Taps! Steel Allthread & Alumium Tubing is the only way to go. IMO....... Much tougher & easier.

PS. I was tempted to use the ALLCAPS!

Tower Hobbies sells individual Metric tap sets (correct size drill bit and tap). ;)

That is my current favorite method, much lighter than solid rod and just as tough.
I never used 3 or 4mm screws when making links with solid rod, it is just to flimsy. I used 6-32 machine screws and just drilled out the ball ends a little to fit 6-32.
