| "air shocks"
I just thought I would contribute to some tech here. I stumbled upon the idea of making "air shocks" last night. It's a fairly easy mod, you keep the stock ride height, and gain full travel. 1) Go rape the stock springs from the old Wally Crawlers 2) Disassemble your shocks, and remove the stock springs 3) Re-assemble the shocks 4) Next, slide the Wally Crawler spring down the shock body 5) Re-insert the black plastic "ball joint", and re-attach the shock. That's it. The Wally Crawler springs are stiff enough to support the weight of the truck, but soft enough to allow full compression. Ride height Flex limited by axle contacting suspension arm I hope this is useful for someone, I am sure happy with the results. Last edited by Zuki Tyler; 08-30-2005 at 05:11 PM. nevermind, i see with your pics that the shock does not fully compress.

All of the available travel is used, flex is either limited to the shocks being fully extended, or the axle contacts the suspension arm. I'm currently stretching the wheelbase, so we'll see what flex does when I have the rear axle pushed 1.25" back |

thanks for the tip.. what i did was i cut the spring in half. it gave me close to full compression of the shock and it was still enough to give the rig a smoother ride. | |

Xtreme Rock Machine springs, I didn't notice anything performance wise.

all it really did was give it that "air shock" look.

You gain ride height over not having any springs, but performance wise, proably not any different than cut springs.

I lost some flex when I tryed it with mine compared to my cut springs. I'm happy with my cut springs and stretch at both ends(1/4" front and 3/8" rear, rear tire will touch the tub now)
