for that price you can build a pretty nice REAL rc crawler. You'll notice in the video, they dont do anything technical and almost everything is down hill. From seeing it in person I can say that it doesnt fit in any catagory, its not exactly fast, doesnt crawl all that well but, does have some relativly innovative/cool features. Me personally, I would buy an E-maxx for bashing and a real crawler with that $1000, you'll be happier in the long run.

one cool thing about it is that you can lock the diff's from the transmitter. now thats awsome. all they need to do now is put solid axles under it, and it would be a BEAST. Then i might think about buying one.

If you think that's expensive look at the HPI Baja 5T RTR, here in Canada @ Great Hobbies it's $1619.

Its just a fancy E-Revo... not a crawler by any means.

If its the "shifting on the fly" feature you like then check out the venom kreeper. Just add a servo and youre off. Then add some RAM lights.
Not Summit bashing, just think its a little pricey. Could do a lot more with that money...like save it for a Losi.

Not a fan of them, but RC4WD's coming out with a solid axle conversion for them, then I would be interested in the diffs.

I think it looks freakin' fun. It's not a crawler. So what. It's a basher that can downshift and crawl some stuff.

Too bad it's a bit pricey.

if the locking diff on the fly is the main reason your looking into buying the summit id highly suggest getting the venom creeper instead. ive seen the summit in action and im not impressed.
like many have said in the past its just glorified e revo.
im more than open see this thing TRY to compete w/ a real crawler. i dont see this thing winning any major comps anytime soon

ive also noticed traxxas started sliding away from calling it a "crawler" refering to the summit as an "extreme terrain vehicle"

"extreme terrain vehicle" .... maybe

"crawler" .... sorry traxxas, YOU FAIL!

Gay, Revo with a Hummer body on it. I think Traxxas should just stick with nitros. Unless, they fully really intend to do a "true scale" rig, kinda like Tamiay is doing.l

Yup, i agree. I had a traxxas tmaxx, broke before i drained every tank. No fun fixing and driving for 5 mins.

How long do you think things will last "on the fly" little plastic peices spinning and locking up.. yaa sounds good. better buy spare parts, lots of them.

Summit main idea is good for all around basher.
i's not built to be comp super crawler - it's just fun to drive.

When i took my emaxx or revo i always found some places that were denied by open diffs or wheelspeed.

And when i took my crawlers with me - i sometime wanted pop a wheelie or blast up a mountain.

Soon i can do both :-P

We got some footage of the Summit indoors crawling and doing a couple jumps, as well of it blasting through the snow. You can check it out at rccaraction.com

I can't wait to get mine. It's the perfect backyard truck to waste time with. It's not meant for all out speed, but fast enough to have fun. Has some features to play around with and crawl over bigger obstacles. I can't wait to play in the snow with it either. It's not a race truck or an all out bashing truck. Just a fun waste your time, jack of all trades truck.
