Getting more traction out of the tires / trimming options
 

I recently picked up a 1:6. I love this freakin thing!!

It goes pretty good for being stock drivetrain wise. The big thing besides the low belly is the tires. They work real nice, but are there any ways of getting them to grip better? I notice a lot of guys running them backwards. Has this helped? I was thinking of cutting the lugs with a knife (like siping on a tire) to see if that would help. Don't wanna cut out every other lug unless I know it's gonna help. Thanks all!!

i drill out 4 of the 8 holes in the rims, it allows the air to get out quicker making them grip around stuff easier

I siped my 1:18th's tires, I don't want to cut them until I get my hands on a second set of tires. I siped straight downt the center of the V, then parallel with each little groove in the lug, so it goes groove, sipe, groove, sipe. I have 5 sipe lines accross the tire, they hop from the traction if I try to climb a car window. Tehy have the original look but much better performance and the tire wraps much better.

Something I noticed in mine.. in addition to drilling holes in the wheels, the inserts inside the tires need some holes. air seems to get trapped between the insert and the tread.

I run mine backwards. On the back I cut every other large on the outside and every other small on the inside. On the front I cut every small in and out. It gets alot of grip.:twisted:

I only have a 1:18 right now. Will drilling the rims on a 1:18 do the same thing. I know thw 1:18 dosen't wieght near as much. And another thing how you get those little platic hubs off the center of the wheel without braking them?
