| thoughts on half droop short springs long shocks
this setup is going to be used on a semi scales/trail rig. planing on runnng the scale coil setup but leaving the coils detach to either chassie or axal i dont know yet. and using somthing to keep the spring located. using maxx size springs (4inch i think) and using a much larger shocks maybe savage shocks or esavage? once the axal has droped pased the spring it will keep going basicly somthing like this http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h5...ark2005014.jpg |

That setup will work great on really technical stuff but once you give it something to climb, the shocks are going to want to unload and the whole chassis will lift and you will flip over easier than you should. You might have to run an internal spring inside of the shock also to keep the shocks compressed a little better. Good idea though. |

ok running on spring on the inside of the shock so the shock will always want to compress? ovbiesly you only need a soft spring |

I think it would be a nice set-up. You could put a compression winch on it or a limiting strap . That's if you didn't want to run the internal springs. By the way where did that pic come from? I'd like to see some more of it. Chris |

does anyone know the eye to eyes length of an esavage shock? ive tryed savage shocks on my rig and there going to be too way to big. esavage shocks seem to be ideal being 1inch longer

I tried this once with springs inside and out. Its great on technical stuff but steep inclines and steps just unloaded the rear and tumbled it over. It was very consistent though, it tumbled EVERY time.

| use springs out of a mechanical pen or pencil. You will definatly want to keep the shocks compressed as much as you can. With a scaler you will have more weight transfered to the rear on a steep incline than a comp rig so you want to try to keep it from moving to much. I did this with a scaler a couple years ago and ended up using two springs under the piston in the rear. It helped but at about 55 degrees it would still tumble. Good luck with your setup. |
