Axles stuck in different ranges

Front is in low range and rear is in high. I took the rear apart and read a couple threads on making sure the black gear thing is working right. My question is, how the hell is it supposed to work?? The white circle gear (held in by that pin) spins in high but not in low. I tried moving the black arm side to side but I have no idea on how I am supposed to set it up. i dont care if i dont have a high range, i'd take low range any day. :-P thanks all

Pull the front axle apart too. There's actually switches in the front arm that the black piece hits to indicate which gear its in.
