| 108mm OR 129mm Shock ????
Im doing my own shock setup and now my last question to figure out is, how long of a shock DO i wanna run,, OR how long of a shock CAN i run???? Right now its a 1/10 scale build (top secret), and has the normal 100mm's on it. SO the 108mm's are basically the same but for the same price i can get the same shock in 3/4 of an inch bigger and go with 129mm's and i can just raise the shock tower up a half an inch. SO would i gain more droop,,,,,, would i gain more flex,,,,,,,,, or will it really matter if i set up the pre-load on the spring the same way???? Im almost tempted to buy one set of each,, just to satisfy my own curiousity on which would be better!! What do you guys think???????????????? |

Longer shocks have more stroke length, so yes, a longer shock will give you more suspension travel, no matter if it's used in a droop set-up, or a standard set-up. The question to ask yourself, however, is can you actually use that extra travel. Will the axle smack the chassis frame rails if you raise the shock tower to keep the ride height the same? Or will the driveshaft u-joint angles get to steep and bind up when the shock unloads in a droop set-up? Just things that need to be considered. A shock that is 21mm longer doesn't necessarily equate to an added 21mm longer stroke either, but it will definitely be more then a comparable, but shorter shock of similar design. |

go with the 108's. Alot of travel isn't always a good thing. The 108's should do you well. Even shocks that long can give more travel then needed at times. |
