Question Aluminum Fastners = Strong Enough?

Looking to swap over most of my fastners on my Axial based comp rig and wanted to know if Aluminum Fastners can take the abuse? I also wanted to know if anyone uses nylon lock nuts instead of the normal metal lock nuts?

Thanks

Nyloc seems to hold up to repeated use alot better and wont loosen up under vibration.

What grade aluminum hardware? I would think it would hold up to light use pretty well. Such as the hardware that holds the axle halves together.
But why not go with steel?
