| Opinions on RC4WD
I would like some unbiased opinions on three of RC4WD crawlers. The Copperhead, Diablo and the Rock Rider. Quality of materials, price and whether they would make a descent all around machine? I have been told that they are inferior to the mass produced machines. Is this true. This is the only site I have found that I think isn't affiliated to a particular manufacture Thanks Kevin Last edited by husky385; 01-20-2009 at 07:17 AM. |

RC4WD have had challenges in the past and were crucified for them. I have used many products from them, from Raptor axles to Bully's and i have to say this, no matter what happened they were always helpful, the service is second to none and their products are some of the best, most innovative, in the hobby. I will continue to run RC4WD on my comp rigs and scalers and would recommend their products to anyone. |

Thanks Culetto... they certainly look well made. I hope to here from others about them. My dilemma is that I also fly rc helicopters to I have 11 3s 2200 20c lippos. I do not want to buy two different kinds of batteries. So the crawler that I get will have to accommodate those batteries They are 110mm long X 35mm wide X 28mm thick. I really like the looks of the copperhead, but i don't think there is enough room for a battery that size. I could put the battery on top of the Diablo frame. I would have to use a body to protect the battery, painter I'm not. The Rock Rider looks like the battery would fit on top of the trany. I wish I could get someone from RC4WD to measure one and let me know if my batteries would work in any of their crawlers. I have posted on the questions before you buy thread on their forum, no luck so far. Thanks again Kevin |

not sure about the crawlers they sell, but the service is top of the line for sure. the Copperhead has case history of being a strong crawler. Never seen it other than pic's here but it seems to be a performer.

I own both the Copperhead and Rock Rider chassis that they offer. So far ive only built the Copperhead. Ive only driven it a few times, but its been great. No issues with the chassis and its pretty solid. Ive rolled it on its lid from a pretty big drop and nothing but a few scratches. Welds on the chassis are decent, id say 8/10. And some of the threaded holes were not chased after painting. But for a mass produced chassis I think its a very nice product. The Rock rider is the same quality and looks to be just as durable. |

Thanks onefstsnake..... If you get a chance looking at the chassis of the Rock Rider. Do you think Their would be enough room for a battery 110mm L X 35mm W X28mm T to fit above the trany and still be protected by the frame. I would be forever in your debt. Thanks Kevin |

110mm is too wide. the chassis is only 100mm wide. Id just get the TCS packs for $20. Last edited by onefstsnake; 01-20-2009 at 04:47 PM. |

Ah, lol. Should fit. But might be a bit tight depending on your link setup. Also depends on the trans your using. You could center the battery in the chassis for more protection as well. |

Ah I saw your other thread on packs. Could also mount it ontop of the steering servo. |
