Default Best MOA and why

I am interested in getting a MOA setup for a comp 2.2 and am undecided. I am considering Bergs, Bully's, even HR. What I would like to know is what you guys like about each and what you don't. I have recently converted my AX, WK's, and TLT's to scaler's and would like to sell my Clod super for something smaller.

Just convert the super clod into a 2.2...try the JPcustom pimp cane torsion chassis. I love mine. Cheaper to build since you have the majority of the parts.

Bergs and HR's are pretty much the same except the HR's are stock axial width so you dont need deep offset rims. You will need your own knuckles, knuckle bearings, and outdrive axles for the HR's though, they are all stock axial part numbers.

Bullys are new, but there wont be any more available until later in february according to rc4wd, there was an issue with the stub axles that is being reworked. If you dont mind the wait they are some of the beefiest axles out there.

All three of them are very good. And all three have their downsides. Its all personal preference with these three.

In my opinion, the HR axles are nice, and I have set, but they are far from perfect. Likewise with the Bergs, since they really are identical in design, as far as the internals go.

Knowing what I know now, I'd say the Bergs look like a better deal because they are complete. HR axles require you to buy a lot of extra parts, like stub shafts, bearings, knuckles, knuckle bushings, ect. They are a direct swap to an AX10, so they assume you will simply swap the parts from the AX10 axles to the HR ones.

I think your best bet, if you can live with increased track width, are Clod axles with 2.2 wheels and tires.

Bullys are well worth the wait!!! The narrow width and flat top axles are perfect. Couple that with extra wide gears and extreme beefyness and its a winning combo.

I am lean towards the Bully's. I am 2/3 done w/ a Bully build and these axles are pure beef cake. The Berg is a runner up but the aluminum is cast, the Bully is pure gnarley CNC. Based on that the CNC attribute is +1 on the Bully's.

I heard they are waiting to fix an axles issue, but I think it's well worth the wait. RC4WD is awesome to deal with. They said they are going to ship the "new" axle to all current Bully owners. Gotta love that customer love!

RC4WD is probably tired of hearing how awesome they are!!!

Bullys were my first choice. I hadnt really considered using the clod stuff just because I would like it to be a true 2.2 comp rig and I dont know if I could get the steering I want.

Also are the HR's and Bullys easier to clock than Bergs or do they require drilling etc.?

I have had the HR's and now I own Bergs. They were the same to clock. Some drilling and using a dremel tool.

HR's are already clocked a little at the knuckles. You could clock them more but its not really needed. Bullys arent clocked but the gearcase design is set up so you dont need to. Bergs need to be drilled and clocked to get the same clearance as the other two but its not really required in the overall scheme of things. If you went bergs and decided to clock them there are a few people who sell templates and one i saw selling a tool to bolt on and drill (search berg clocking fixture in vendors section).

HR's require parts, Bergs require work, Bullys are big and require careful planning of your build.

Its still personal preference. Honestly you could make the choice on color and you would still be happy. My personal prefrences are the HRs and Bullys because i prefer to run narrow track in the rear on my comp rigs and the bergs just dont really allow that.

I don't think you'll be unhappy w/ your choice. Keep us posted w/ your build.

HR vs Berg

The Berg is a much better built axle. I run HRs now with Berg internals, because they are narrower.

I'm in phx, are you willing to sell your HR internals?

i love my Bergs, they're the stoutest axles made. i haven't broken anything in my bergs except a bearing or two and the stock stub shafts.
