Question My Shocks <<>> Take A Look Please!

Ok these are losi shocks that was a kit for all 4 shocks so these are good shocks. This is my first time with this but i got the concept so its kinda easy. I filled em all with 60wt and they have very soft springs with alotta room for adjusments. After i filled them according to the directions,, they just didnt seem to be what i expected,,,SO it took a quick video so that you guys can see if i did a good job or not.............

Please cirtique me in any way so i can learn more here ok!

Looks good, that is normal with 60wt. Good luck with the rest of the build. You will love those losi shocks.

The lower wt fluid the faster the shock will react.

new shocks, springs inperticular, wil be stiff at first, after some run time they will soften up a bit.

Question

What if i added another drop or 2 of oil,,,, would that help push the piston outwards more???

More oil than you have will cause a 'compression rebound'

Just like if you did not bleed out enough oil and or air.
If your piston is pushing out more than 1/8" you should add oil and REbleed the shock as needed.

By lower, do you mean lower in numbers, like 30wt or do u mean lower as in thickness at 100wt??

What would 3000wt do and react??

The weight of the oil will make the shock react slower or faster, 30WT will react a bit faster, both in the pack stage which is the upward movement of the piston & the downward stage which is the rebound. The lighter oil will let the suspension move quicker & the chassis will roll from side to side faster, the heavier oil will cause the suspenison to slow & the chassis to be stiffer from side to side. Using a heavier oil will carry a wheel that is going over a hole not to drop in the hole & so on & so forth.
Hope this helps.

As stated above - the oil will cause the shock to either respond quickly or slowly - you will have determine which is best for your driving style & what type of terrain you will be crawling on. I use Losi shocks on my comp rig with 80 wt oil - it makes things work a little slower and therefor a little more predictable - but thats my driving style. If you follow Losi's instructions for filling the shocks - you will get the correct amount of oil in them. You'll love them once you get them set up & don't afraid to really tighten down the cap - they need it or they will leak.

If you have two identical shocks, one filled with 30wt, and one filled with 100wt, the 30wt shock will react faster than the 100wt shock.

"Weight" refers to the viscosity of the oil.

In the video it looks like you need to bleed them off. Shocks should typically be neutral. So when you push and they resist, or pull and they retract... it means you need to bleed off some air.
