Where is the best place to buy worm gears or worm gear drives for RC's?

Thanks, Jason, I thought there might be another source. The ones that SDI have are bronze: I'm looking for hardened steel, but, the ones that I have found are upwards of $200......waaaay upwards.

I use sdp-si steel worms against a bronze worms wheel in my axles.

It's best to have dissimilar metals like bronze on steel vs steel on steel...

Maybe it's me, but, I can't see the bronze gear holding up to a 4-stroke 90.

You gonna crawl or bash?

Reason I ask, with a worm you get no free-wheeling or coasting.

When you let off, the wheels lockup. Could be a major prollem for a basher.

Ahhhh, that's right!!! I never even thought of that. Thanks for telling me. Oh well, there goes that idea.

Here's what I was thinking...to have a top mounted lateral pinion, much like that of an Army duece an a half and the worm drive seemed to fit the bill. Well, back to the drawing board. Thanks for the heads-up, Ace!

NOT a basher! You put this much work into something and the last thing you want to do is to carelessly wreck it. I've been trying to organize a monster truck racing program, much like the 1:1 have at colluseums.

As for a crawler, me & electric......let me put it this way: I would rather hear VVVROOM-VVRROOM than wwheeee. :lol:
