| New comp 2.2
So after piling up parts, I finally got the ball rollin' on the new truck. I may have it done by the next comp. This is what I have so far. I still have to lockout the rear, mod my berg shafts, get the steering finished, install the lock collars and electronics. Let me know what you think. It has way too much flex for my taste so I am going to fix that. It will have: -Hot Racing axles with modded berg shafts and lockers -Integy aluminum knuckles with axial stubs -Eventually a home brew lockout for the rear. -55t motors(12T-R/14T-F) -BTA steering -Switched dig with a little Hitec HS81 -DNA Assasin wheels(SEXXXXY) -Panthers with my Top secret foam(Have rovers, just not setup yet) -Mamba Max(Tekin FX-R on the way) -CC BEC -JR DS8611(My favorite JR servo) -Grappler body -Piano wire chassi with A touch of Super-Dave engineering -Elite 2200Mah 35C 3S lipo More to come when time permits: |

Nice! I witnessed Super Dave's torsion Berg at our comp. He almost had a perfect day, -5, -5, -4. The torsion Berg was quite impressive. I want to put some Bergs under my Force1 torsion but I don't want to tear apart my current comp rig. I'll be watching this thread. Mike |

Ya i'm very interested in this as well, i'm thinking of throwing a rig together with a "pimp cane" set up just to get up and running while i'm figuring out what to run as a comp rig. Do you guys think a torsion only rig would be competitive ? |

I finally had some time to figure out the steering. It took about a couple hours the other day to figure it out. I was going to buy some of those high steer knuckles, but the only place that I saw that had them was CKRC and I will NEVER give them my business. Plus a 3 foot piece of metal costed me 8 bucks. So when all was said and done, I had less leverage on the steering arms, and saved about $35. Plus they kinda remind me of a toyota hi-steer arm lol. So none the less I have REAL behind axle/high steering. It's made of 1/8th inch steel. I got the idea yet again from SuperDave's truck(Thanks Dave). Just used the regular king-pin bolt, and drilled/tapped another one on the knuckle. I also had to make a thicker plate to raise the piano wire so the drag link wouldn't rub. I will probably invest a couple hours on Saturday to shortening my berg shafts, locking out the rear, and finishing the chassi. At that point I will be ready for electronics and some test abuse. Give me your thoughts. |

Turns out I may have it done and going by the comp on Sunday. I got alot done tonight. Shortened and installed the berg shafts, Locked out the rear, put all the collars on the piano wire, made the dig switch unit, installed all the electronics except the rear motor, and threw on some wheels/tires for some poses. I am going to finish it up Saturday morn and take it out for some abuse to see if it is worthy for the comp. I still have to program the ESC, put in the rear motor, build a battery or 2 for it, and install body posts. And assuming everything works, I will have it at the comp. After that will be just detail work like installing all matching locking collars, dyeing the delron black, and just other minor stuff with the steering. I am so glad I have the tools and skills to do a nice and tidy little dig switch!: Trap door for easy programing! |
