Why did you even post if you didn't have the pictures?

Wouldnt it have been better if you had the pictures when you first posted?

I originally was going to head outside after my first post to go take pics. But decided I wanted to have the suspension done first. Anyways, the suspension won't be done for another 15 minutes so here's a pic of it in peices.

i would rather have a clod but don't have the money. this project only cost me $50.00 (so far anyways) . i also wanted a small and very agile crawler.

i've got a few more pics for you guys. i'm not going to be running the jeep body anymore because the tires get caught on it really bad. i'm going to go to the hobby shop today and i am going to try on some buggy bodys. we'll see how they work.

Remove the windshield (& leave it off), take out the cage and the seats. Then cut a section out of the middle of the body with a band saw and glue it back together. Narrow the cage and reinstall it, then just install one seat. AXEMAN did it with his 1:6 scale nylint and it looks great.

Call me a dumba$$...but how the he!! does the stick chassis work? I understand the center rod replaces the frame...

Does each axle pivot on the center rod? Or is one axle fixed to the rod, and the other is the pivoting one?

I figure the rod has to pivot since you only use two shocks, mounted on opposite sides of the rod, but I am not even sure of that...

Maybe I need to try to throw something together to test with so I can understand how this thing works....

Obviously it's Friday, after 5:00pm, and my brain is in recovery mode from a long work week...its possible that this is a simple concept, and I just cant see the forest for the trees....

I hate to say it but, I think I'm going to scrap the whole "2.2 class competitor" thing. With the 2.2s the rear end clicks whenever the tires get caught up a little bit. And there is too much slop in the steering for my taste. I think I'll go back to the original tires and make a smaller main shaft. It will be a truck just to mess around with in my spare time and maybe compete in a nylint class of some sort. That's all.

Iflyos. You got it right. Each axle pivots on the center shaft. The shocks are there to mainly limit the articulation.

Tyler...so would I be correct in assuming that in order to work well, you need to have the shocks at half compression when the vehicle is at ride height? So you can have some droop?

As I see it, if the axle pivots on the "spine" it could spin 360 unless you limit it with tabs or something, correct??
