| Torque twist question
Hi gang, I've got a question about torque twist and I'm not sure if this is a newbie question so I'll just post here first. From what I understand, shafties suffer from it because the motor runs parallel to the chassis and tries to lift up one side of the truck during acceleration. Supposing I have a center tranny where the motor runs perpendicular to the chassis (not a stampede tranny, more like a TC3 rear tranny). Now the torque twist would either try to lift the front and press down the rear, or lift the rear and press down the front (not sure which yet, as it's all very confusing). In crawling, which would be more beneficial? To have the front lift under acceleration or press down? Thanks in advance. |

| Your still going to have the torque twist because its a shafty. When the driveshafts are turning the axles they are, in a way, trying to turn the chassis as well. It may help a little with the torque twist, but it'll still be there. |

What you are refering to with a parallel motor is called torque steer. Something that typically happens to faster vehicles. The torque of the parallel setup will cause the vehicle to follow the path of spinning parts. Like Adogg13x said, you will still have the torque twist because of the shafts. Unless you somehow figure out how to make a shaftless shafty. | |

Just play around with your link configuration, shock mounts and shock oils and springs. You CAN help it or get rid of it. I had trorque twist BAD the first time I assembled my rig. After alot of trial and error and redoing things,I've nearly eliminated it.

| Okay, thanks for the replies. I'll put off going with the perpendicular motor setup for now. I might experiment with it later and report my findings here if I get my hands on a cheap tranny. |
