Default Rear axle popping-axle gear mis-alignment.

I've read alot on the rear axle popping when bound up. And when i pulled my jeep and scorpions out of the box, the first thing i did was tighten and loc-tite the bolts on the reduction unit.

The axle's still pop.

The axle on the scorpion with the 2.2's finally gave out, and upon further inspection, there is alot of misalignment between the axle drive gear and the low-range output gear on the reduction unit. This misalignment caused the inside half of my axle drive gear to strip out. Is this a problem alot of these things are having? I don't see how something as simple as proper gear alignment would be overlooked.

EDIT: I just replaced the rear axle shaft wit the one out of the jeep, and i have no noises coming from the rear even under heavy binding. I also noted my front axle's motor will stall from too much bind before it will pop or jump teeth.

Smile shim gear mesh

hey, thanks alot I noticed this on my crawler and it is a easy fix, shim it by adding thin washers or washer on the axle behind the wheel hup and on the outside of the gear case this will take the play out of the axle and it wont move back and forth as much.

My front and rear axles grind like mad, even on flat ground... it can hardly move 2" forward. I have deemed it... "Toy Junk"! I haven't taken either gear cases apart yet, it's given me a good $30 worth of fun so far and have no real need to dig into it.

what did you shim?, I just put some thin rubber on top of my gear case, no more popping.

I actually already have someone buying the tires off of my scorpion. I should have 2 more sets of tires for sale in about 1.5 weeks.
