Default Dig Switch Quality

I need to put this out here based on an observation, that may or may not be valid, but I just need to ask.

I am running dual sidewinders and Novak 55t motors. DX6 Radio

I built a dig switch for my Bully build using Radio Shack switches. It worked fine. I installed a switch because I did feel that the locking of the axles for the dig was weak using just the radio mixing, and that shorting the motor would improve the locking feel that I wanted. The switches were an improvement.

Tonight I built a new dual switch using the Holmes Hobbies larger switches. They are DAMN NICE. It appears that after installing these, my locking got even stronger than with the Radio Shack switches.

This is where my question comes in. Is it reasonable to assume that the Holmes Switches create a better short of the motors thus creating a stronger lock? Or am I just seeing something that is really not there?

either a motor is "shorted", or it isnt...

i think you might be imagining things...

Thanks. I was not certain if the resistance within the switch would cause different degrees of locking. Sort of like a thinner wire cannot conduct as much electricity as a thicker wire without getting hot or blowing like a fuse. So it seems that I am imagining things.

A switch with lower resistance will give a better short. Your old switches may have been worn out or pitted, leading to higher resistance.

The higher amp rating of a switch is indicitive of lower resistance too.

Thank you. I just finished cleaning up the wiring and gave the truck another run to test. It definitely felt like a stronger lock on the motors. Your switches are very beefy....I like them more than the Radio Shack units by FAR. Tough to get them to fit with 2 servos in my Zero T chassis, but where there is a will there is a way!
