Default Here are some pics of my new Summit

Here are a few pics of my Summit. I put Moabs on it this morning. When I first got it last week I broke it within 5 minutes. Traxxas has been really good about warranty issues. I had the part in hand three days later.
This is the first opportunity I had to take it out and put it through its paces. It is a real go getter!!! It does really well in the snow!

Actually, I heard the Revo is based on the Summit. Through the design phase, somewhere in the middle, they released the E-Revo (I think) and continued with the Summit.

It crawls okay. No where near a comp crawler but it's not designed to be.
Yesterday I had it out in the snow for three sets of batteries. I found that when I needed locked diffs, most of the time the front pulled it through. The only time I needed the rear locked also was when it was really stuck.

This next weekend there is a race near here and a crawler course will be available also. We'll see how it handles a crawler course.
Since it's a basher too, I don't want to weight the wheels and nosedive over jumps. It may take more finesse to get this dialed in so it will do it all.

Any way you look it, I LOVE MY SUMMIT!!!!!

I will have pics up later of the internals.

Sorry to have stepped on anyone's toes. Didn't mean anything by it.

Curious, how wide is the front bumper? Looks like it might work for a Ford Ranger I'm working on if it's wide enough.

Diffs work smooth. Lock them in and move slowly forward or backward until you can hear them lock. It's pretty sweet. It has 5 servos. 2 for steering, 1 for Hi/Lo range, 1 for locking the front diff and 1 for locking the rear diff.

The front bumper is almost 6-3/4" wide and a little over 2-1/2 inches tall including the chrome part. It has four SuperBright LED's in the front bumper and 6 Red SuperBright LED's in the rear bumper.

Within the first five minutes I broke the gear that the sliding diff gear rides on. It is the output shaft.
It seems to be the weakspot. Traxxas claims that there seem to be 1%-2% that were not cast correctly. I still treat it with kid gloves although if it is going to break it will do it no matter how lightly I use it.

I love this Truck!!! I like being able to move fast and crawl all with the same vehicle. Run times aren't bad either. I run 3300NiMh batteries and I am getting around 20-25 minutes depending on if I am in hi or lo gear. That big 775 motor is pretty efficient.

Its a fun rig. I love mine. As long as you arent switching the difs on and off while moving its fine. You can also change which dif locks first by switching the A and B plugs on the t-lock board. Lock the rear and leave the front and go drifting

Well, I ran mine today. 30 sec. into the run the front diff let go. The left output shaft snapped. I called traxxas and they said they had a bad batch of them. They are mailing me the parts to fix it. I will start a thread when I get the parts to fix it. I guess that there will be a lot of us with this problem.

The tires are the same height but the stock wheel is monster truck or 30 series which is a little smaller.

I think its a real nice ride - traxxas is very good at customer support - un like some others in the industry -
it is very close to my nitro revo - i might have to find one to mess with
