helps rotate the axle yokes up so you dont hang them up on the trail. it also helps take some stress off the yokes so you dont break them or pop off as easy.

Caster is only needed in the front. You want the front Knuckles to be paralell with the ground. This provides easier steering than if they leaned forward as well as more steering. If you go back it helps remove more weight, but can make the steering scrub more because of the moved back caster.

well its just that i have seen lots of rigs with there back axles like that not just the hubs. that was really my question was with the whole axle too.
