| Custom links? Delrin or stainless?
Where can a guy get a set of custom made delrin links? I have poked around a bit but havn't had much luck, lots of pre-made sets. On that note...Which is better, delrin or stainless steel? |

Thanks guys! I decided to go delrin, my rig is already enough of a pig without stainless links, and I don't want "flashy" looking links, I would actually rather not see them lol.

If you have already made up you mind, thats great. But figured I would pass along this info to others that might be reading this thread. Xtreme Rc Hobbies.. http://xtreme-rc-hobbies.net/store/i...87dc8a1d293a30 I was looking for SW3/SWX & Wheely King axle links, but I didn't see Carbon Fibre / Stainless Steel sets listed on his webpage (just delrin). Sent David (InsaneRC on here) an email on Saturday and had a set of links sent out that Tuesday. About a week later, I had them in my hands. Impressive work out of the box, even more impressive when installed. Photos are still on my camera, but they have definately been a worthwhile upgrade to my rig. It is now straight and not loose and wiggly/wobbly like my home made links were before. |

Im new to crawling . what is the reason for custom links ?. Are they longer or do they have different angles or just different materials ?.

Stainless! You can make them yourself. Get some stainless tubing and some threaded rod to fit the ends that you want to use and get to bending! www.onlinemetals.com BTW, rchippie, custom links are sometimes used to gain extra clearance under the truck when they are bent. You can see my homemade stainless links in the front of this truck (I made the rear lower links later): |

Well, I just made one, then I bent the others to match. IIRC, I made 5 because I messed up one...

That's a pretty decent crawler! DMG makes one of the best tube chassis out there and the rest of the components look great! The rear links will help with clearance. You dont necessarily need bent front links. I would run it as is and if you find that you keep getting hung up on the front links, then you can get a set of bent links.

I like Delrin, its way cheaper than stainless, and easier to work with basic tools that most of us have, Stainless can be a PITA to work

I've used both, I have to say in my experiences the Delrin lower links are better, even though there not as strong as stainless they slide over rock a lil bit better.
