aluminum rod or tube

im going to build an aluminum chassie out of aluminum, do you think it would be better to make with aluminum rod or tube, im going to build two vehicles, a crawler, and a sand rail. i only want to have one type of material running around and didnt know if tube would be strong enough for the sand rail. and the size would be 3/8th of an inch unless someone wants to reccomend another size, i would also be brazing the joints with a propane torch and some aluminum weld type stuff.
Thanks

Thats some beefy heavy stuff in either form. I'd recommend more like 1/4" OD tube at the most. Tubing will be lighter for sure.

You'll need to use MAPP gas to actually use the aluminum braze/filler rod. Propane's heat isn't enough to really get those filler rods to work.

Holy crap, 3/8" is going to be overkill for a tuber. I almost always use 3/16" except on really large builds, then I use 1/4".

Aluminum is not the easiest material to work with in terms of brazing. If this is your first tuber, I'd recommend going with brakeline and safety silv. Much easier and cheaper and you'll learn a lot before trying to tackle aluminum.
